Isla Handmade Wood Beaded Garland

This Garland was handmade by myself. This garland is simple and made of natural materials: wood beads and jute. The design is inspired by the idea of simple living, which advocates better work-life balance, less dependencies on industrial technology and calls for environmental sustainability. The natural color wood beads and the wood pieces indicate that climate change has increased the risks of tree death and other damages to nature. The three larger green-blue wood beads represent that living in an environmentally friendly way can help the planet get greener and greener.  

The background photo is the 2007 wildfire in Greece. As climate warms due to continuously increasing greenhouse gases, wildfires occur more and more frequently especially over the Western U.S. and part of Europe. We need simple life-style more towards carbon neutral so as to stop this catastrophic trend.
